Zevia All Natural Soda – Review & Giveaway!

Zevia-CansIf you’ve been around here long, you know it’s no secret that I have some big Zevia fans in my house.  Until recently, I had only tried the grape (which I really enjoy).  The awesome folks at Zevia sent me a 6-pack of assorted flavors to try that included: Grape, Cherry Cola, Ginger Ale, Grapefruit Citrus, Cream Soda, and Ginger Root Beer!  Surprisingly, I enjoyed them ALL!  My 4th grader is also a HUGE Zevia fan so I had to share.  His favorite was the Cherry Cola and I think I may be leaning toward the Grapefruit Citrus as a new favorite!

Zevia is an all-natural soda and is a great alternative to the high-sugar sodas on the market today.  It’s sweetened with stevia and is ZERO CALORIES!  No sugar or artificial sweeteners equates to a healthier soda!  As a mom of 5 boys… I also love the fact that this is a colorless soda.  (Spills happen… just sayin!)  This is one soda that you won’t feel guilty about consuming, or sharing with the kids.

Frugally speaking, Zevia almost always has Zevia COUPONS up on their website.  We also see high-value coupons in our newspaper inserts as well as some magazines.  I have found the best flavor selection in my area at Sprouts, but it’s also available at Target, Whole Foods and most grocers.  You can’t miss the brightly colored cans on the shelves… be sure to look for them!

SoCal Locals: Experience Santa’s Wonderland At A Discount + GIVEAWAY!

I was invited to experience the BRAND NEW Santa’s Wonderland that just opened up here in Orange County.  I took the boys on Black Friday and they had a ball!  One of the (awesome) OC Deal Mama readers was helping out with the setup and introduced the concept to me.  We were excited to see what it was all about, and it didn’t disappoint.  If your looking for a fun activity to do with the kids, be sure to keep reading!

Santa’s Wonderland is set up in a 23,000 square foot, 2-story building in Irvine.  Inside, you’ll find several different rooms, each with a different activity to experience… including a visit with the man in charge – SANTA CLAUS (take as many pictures as you want, or have them take one for you)!

Kids can check to see if their name is on the naughty or nice list, write (and mail) a letter to Santa, participate in reindeer games, decorate their very own gingerbread cookies, and so much more!  There’s even a room to get an elf makeover!  There are ‘elves’ throughout the entire experience to help along the way, and you can even enjoy a snack in the Candy Cane Cafe.

The SNOW ROOM was, hands down, the biggest hit for my crew.  This is so much fun… it looks and feels just like real snow, only without the ‘wet’!  My boys could have stayed in this room for hours.

My crew thoroughly enjoyed themselves… and would love to go back again, if nothing else than to play in the snow room again!  Big thanks to the team at Santa’s Wonderland for inviting us.  What a great way to kick start the Christmas season!

Enter To Win A Heinz 57 Tailgating Prize Pack + RECIPES!

They have generously shared three EASY recipes to turn up the flavor on your tailgate – Heinz 57 Pulled Pork, Zesty Garlic Wings, and Honey Dipping Sauce.  Whether you’re enjoying meat, seafood or veggies for the big game, Heinz 57 Sauce brings the perfect kick with its unique, rich flavor.

Heinz 57 Pulled Pork

Serves: 8
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 8 hours
Marinate Time: 0 minutes

  • 1/2 cup Heinz 57® Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Lea & Perrins® Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1 medium onion, chopped, or about 2 cups
  • 3 1/2 lb. boneless pork shoulder blade roast, trimmed and cut into 4 pieces

1. In a 5-6 quart slow cooker, mix together 57 Sauce, Worcestershire Sauce, mustard, sugar, tomato paste, and onion. Season with salt & pepper if desired. Add pork, turning until well coated. Cover and cook on low heat setting for about 8 hours, or until pork is cooked through (no longer pink or an internal temperature of 165°F) and tender, turning occasionally.

2. To serve, remove pork from slow cooker. Pull pork into shreds using two forks. Return pork to slow cooker and stir until well mixed with sauce. Serve onto your favorite sandwich buns and serve immediately.

TIP: If desired, cook on on high heat setting for 4 hours, or until pork is cooked through (no longer pink or an internal temperature of 165°F) and tender, turning occasionally.

 

Heinz 57 Zesty Garlic Wings

Serves: 6
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 22 minutes
Marinate Time: 0 minutes

  • 1 cup Heinz 57® Sauce
  • 1/2 cup Prepared Balsamic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing
  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 package frozen chicken wing sections, thawed, or about 20 pieces

1. Preheat broiler to high heat. Place oven rack at 9 to 10 inches from heat source. Coat a broiler pan with nonstick cooking spray.

2. Whisk together 57 Sauce, vinaigrette and garlic until well mixed. Reserve half of mixture in a separate bowl for dipping.

3. Arrange wings in single layer on broiler pan and broil for 10 minutes, turning halfway through. Brush sauce mixture liberally on both sides of wings. Continue broiling for 10 to 12 minutes, or until cooked through, turning every 2 to 3 minutes. Serve with reserved dipping sauce.

TIP: Always cook chicken until no longer pink or to an internal temperature of 165° F.

TIP: For grilling method, preheat grill to medium high heat. Grill wings for 15 minutes, turning occasionally. Brush sauce mixture liberally on both sides of wings and grill for another 5 to 7 minutes, or until cooked through (no longer pink or an internal temperature of 165°F), turning frequently. Serve with reserved dipping sauce.

TIP: For a spicier variation, add 1 to 2 tsp. of crushed red pepper flakes to sauce mixture.

 

Heinz 57 Honey Dipping Sauce

This sweet and tangy dipping sauce is simple and perfect with Ore-Ida® Grillers but can also be used as a dip for any favorite side – from chips to a veggie tray!

Serves: 4
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 0 minutes
Marinate Time: 0 minutes

  • 1/2 cup Heinz 57® Sauce
  • 2 Tbsp. honey

1. Combine Heinz 57 and honey in a small bowl.

2. Enjoy!

3. If desired, serve with Ore-Ida® Grillers, prepared as directed on package.

Lilla Rose Flexi Clip – Review & GIVEAWAY!

Have you heard of Lilla Rose?  Lilla Rose makes beautiful, yet functional HAIR JEWELRY!  They are best known for the Flexi-Clip.  Not only are these BEAUTIFUL, they are AMAZING!  As a busy mom of five, and a 24/7 blogger (that sports her best bed head more often than I care to admit), I simply don’t have a lot of time to spend on my hair.  I was fighting with it on a daily basis.  That is, right up to the point that I was given the opportunity to try one of the Lilla Rose Flexi-Clips!

I have to admit, I got a little giddy once I started exploring the website.  There are so many unique and beautiful designs, I had a hard time choosing!  There is something for everyone, from plain to fancy, simple silver or beaded in rich colors.  Some even have dangles!

Lilla Rose Flexi-Clips were made with all hair types in mind.  They come in various sizes, ranging from Mini to Extra Large.  Here’s a quick video to illustrate the different sizes as well as some of the styles you can do!

 

After watching the sizing video, I decided to go with a small clip.  My hair is fine, but I have a lot of it.  My style of choice most days is the classic pony tail, and I decided the small would work best for me.  These are so much better than the typical hair band I was using.  I’ve tried the ‘ouchless’ elastics, even the fabric ones.  I always ended up with a headache at the end of the day.  Not with the Flexi-Clip!  When I used the elastics, I had to wrap the band around multiple times to hold my hair, otherwise it would just fall down.  The Flexi-Clip holds my hair tightly, and it doesn’t slip.  It literally takes just a few seconds to put in, and it’s COMFORTABLE.  It’s also very gentle on your hair, so no breakage like you see with typical hair bands.

Since I rarely step outside of my (boring) box with my wardrobe, I chose a Flexi-Clip with a pop of color.  This is the one I’ve been wearing… isn’t it gorgeous?!?  (I have several others on my wish list.)  When its not in my hair, it’s never far away. I carry it with me to style on the fly.  You can style your hair in seconds on the go.  It’s seriously that easy.  These are even GREAT for Kids!  The Mini size is perfect for little girls!  And what little girl wouldn’t feel like a princess with a Flexi-Clip like this in her hair?  (I really love this one too…)

These clips are figure eight shaped and are made from flexible wire that allows the clip to bend around your hair.  The pin slides underneath the hair, and fits through the other side, snapping into place.  There are a couple of different divets in the pin to accommodate different styles, the most common being the pony tail, tails up, half up and the French twist.  I’ve had my clip for several weeks now so I’ve had plenty of time to play with it.  I absolutely LOVE IT, and I’ll bet you will too.
