My Vons Trip – Spent $13.22, Saved $71.19 + HOT Oscar Mayer Lunchmeat Catalina!

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for my quick after-school run to Vons to pick up a few items.  I didn’t have much on my ‘list’ today.  I STILL don’t have all of my coupons clipped and organized, and I honestly don’t see me getting my act together anytime soon… not this weekend at least!  Today I spent a WHOPPING $13.22 for everything in this picture, and per my receipts, I saved $71.19!  I’ll take it!

Here’s what I purchased today (over 3 transactions):
2.43lbs Bananas – $1.68

I had some *magic* happen at the register today.  First, I found the 12ct boxes of chocolate Pop Tarts on the clearance cart marked 50% OFF.  I didn’t have any Pop Tart coupons with me but these are my boys favorites and they disappear like lightning around here.  I was willing to pay 1/2 price for them.  They scanned at $2.45 Each, my personalized Just 4 You price.  HOWEVER, when she scanned the bright orange 50% OFF stickers… it deducted 50% OFF of the REGULAR PRICE which took off $2.00 Each!!!  I ended up getting the 12ct boxes of Pop Tarts for ONLY $0.45 Each with NO COUPONS!  My BOGO FREE Ocean Spray coupon deducted the regular price of $3.79 instead of the sale price of $1.67.  That made BOTH FREE and gave me an extra $0.45 that more than covered my CRV (tax).  The Starbucks Refreshers coupons rang up weird… and they did last week too so I wasn’t surprised.  The first coupon scanned and deducted the correct $1.50 from my total.  When they tried to scan the next one, it beeped.  They did an override to make it go through, and it deducted the regular price of $2.39, also giving me overage to offset my CRV (tax) and then some (I used 2 per transaction).  I was mad at myself for not remembering to split my hot dog buns into 2 transactions so both my coupons would double, but I quickly got over that!!!  Then there’s this…

There’s a Catalina offer running on Oscar Mayer lunch meats right now, and it’s working on these small 2oz packages!
Buy Oscar Mayer Lunchmeats 5/14/12 – 6/10/12
Buy 3, Get Back $2 Catalina
Buy 4, Get Back $3 Catalina
Buy 5+, Get Back $4 Catalina

This means that if you buy (5) of these Oscar Mayer 2oz lunchmeats you’ll pay $4.95 and get back a $4 Catalina… making them only $0.19 Each!  And guess what?  It’s ROLLING!  You can buy (5) more and pay with your $4 Catalina and still get another $4 Catalina back!  WOOHOO!  This is why I split my purchase into (3) transactions.  I purchased (5) lunchmeats and (2) Starbucks Refreshers in my first (2) transactions and then used those $4 Catalinas to pay for my next transactions.

My Vons Trip – Spent $25.88, Saved $59.96 (70%)!

My boys were asking for PIZZA for dinner tonight.  I had a voucher from a daily deal site so I needed to PICK UP the pizza… so of course I’m going to take advantage of them and hit a store while I’m out!  So I ran in to Vons tonight for a few items.  I spent a total of $25.88 and saved $59.96 or 70%!

Here’s what I purchased today:

8.37 lbs Bananas – $3.27 (Just4U price $0.39/lb)
(4) lbs Strawberries – $0.97 Each
(3) Diet Coke – $2.27 Each +CRV (Just4U price)

I had planned to pick up some Lucky Charms, but I’m WAY behind on my coupon clipping and didn’t have a coupon with me.  These are on sale for $1.88 this week, but I won’t pay that for kid cereal.  I was excited to see this box on the clearance cart marked 50% Off!  The sticker showed it as 50% OFF of $3.89.  If you aren’t already aware… these bright orange 50% OFF stickers always list the regular price.  However, they will actually ring up at what they’re currently priced on the shelf.  So… I got my Lucky Charms for $0.94 today – with NO COUPONS!  And for the record… the only thing wrong with this box was that the top had popped open.  The interior bag was perfectly in tact.  I have no idea why the Pop Tarts were on this cart… the box was a little mis-shaped?  SOLD!

We have a few new coupons to print!  My favorite (besides the Jell-O) is the $3.00 off any (6) Dial Liquid Hand Soap.  We see these on sale at Ralphs all the time for $0.88.  Hopefully that sale will roll around again soon!  I can handle paying $0.38 for soap!

My Vons Trip – Spent $17.95, Saved $77.28 (82%)!

My afternoon got a little crazy today, but I was able to pop in Vons real quick and knock a few items off my list!

I have people tell me all the time that they don’t shop at Vons because they’re too expensive.  Honestly I don’t see that.  In my personal experience, if you watch the sales and pair those with your coupons, you can get some AWESOME deals.  Especially now that Vons is the only store in SoCal left that doubles coupons. (Aside from Albertsons and their Doubler events, but those are not regular, and Albertsons is hands-down the most expensive store in town for non-advertised items.)  Now that Vons has rolled out the Just For U program, it’s only gotten better!  I always check my Just For U account before I go… and you should too!  Not only do you get ‘personalized prices’, you can load both STORE (which you can STACK with) and manufacturer e-Coupons to your shopper’s card.  Today I was happy to find more FREE Eggs, a FREE Starbucks Refresher, a FREE Bar of some sort, and more.  Some are finding FREE produce… I haven’t been fortunate enough to get that one yet, but I’m watching for it!

Today I spent $17.95, including Tax & CRV, and saved $77.28 (82%)!  One nice thing I realized when I got to the store was that the Buy 4, Save $4 promotion is good when you purchase 4 or MORE participating items.  What’s nice about that is that you don’t have to do Algebra in the store trying to keep count of your items.  I only did ONE transaction today, but I mixed my coupons up so that I had as many double as possible (i.e. $0.50/1, $0.60/1 for the same items, etc.).  If you’re looking for additional denominations of coupons, be sure to check my coupon database!  New coupons show up all the time!

I got a STEAL on the Pop Tarts today… my Just For U price made these only $0.88 Each with the Buy 4 promotion.  One of my coupons doubled, so I ended up getting ALL 4 boxes for $1.02 TOTAL!!!  I need to get my hands on more Pop Tart coupons!!!
