My Shopping Trip

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time for my quick after-school run to Vons to pick up a few items.  I didn’t have much on my ‘list’ today.  I STILL don’t have all of my coupons clipped and organized, and I honestly don’t see me getting my act together anytime soon… not this weekend at least!  Today I spent a WHOPPING $13.22 for everything in this picture, and per my receipts, I saved $71.19I’ll take it!

Here’s what I purchased today (over 3 transactions):
2.43lbs Bananas – $1.68
(2) Fresh Express Spinach – $0.99 Each
(1) Fresh Express Shreds – $0.99
(1) Tyson Chicken Nuggets – $3.99
(2) Farmer John Hot Dogs – $0.79 Each (Just4U this week)
(2) Ball Park Hot Dog Buns – $1.99 Each
(15) Oscar Mayer 2oz Lunch Meats – $0.99 Each
(5) Starbucks Refreshers – $1.50 Each
(2) Ocean Spray Juice – $1.67 Each
(2) Kellogg’s 12-pk Pop Tarts – $2.45 Each (my Just4U price)
CRV – $0.45
Subtotal – $45.24 After Sale & Just 4 You Offers

USED: (2) $0.55/1 Ball Park Buns (1 Doubled)
AND: $0.75/1 Tyson Nuggets (Doubled)
AND: $1/2 Farmer John Hot Dogs
AND: (5) FREE Starbucks Refreshers
AND: BOGO FREE Ocean Spray Juice

I had some *magic* happen at the register today.  First, I found the 12ct boxes of chocolate Pop Tarts on the clearance cart marked 50% OFF.  I didn’t have any Pop Tart coupons with me but these are my boys favorites and they disappear like lightning around here.  I was willing to pay 1/2 price for them.  They scanned at $2.45 Each, my personalized Just 4 You price.  HOWEVER, when she scanned the bright orange 50% OFF stickers… it deducted 50% OFF of the REGULAR PRICE which took off $2.00 Each!!!  I ended up getting the 12ct boxes of Pop Tarts for ONLY $0.45 Each with NO COUPONS!  My BOGO FREE Ocean Spray coupon deducted the regular price of $3.79 instead of the sale price of $1.67.  That made BOTH FREE and gave me an extra $0.45 that more than covered my CRV (tax).  The Starbucks Refreshers coupons rang up weird… and they did last week too so I wasn’t surprised.  The first coupon scanned and deducted the correct $1.50 from my total.  When they tried to scan the next one, it beeped.  They did an override to make it go through, and it deducted the regular price of $2.39, also giving me overage to offset my CRV (tax) and then some (I used 2 per transaction).  I was mad at myself for not remembering to split my hot dog buns into 2 transactions so both my coupons would double, but I quickly got over that!!!  Then there’s this…

There’s a Catalina offer running on Oscar Mayer lunch meats right now, and it’s working on these small 2oz packages!
Buy Oscar Mayer Lunchmeats 5/14/12 – 6/10/12
Buy 3, Get Back $2 Catalina
Buy 4, Get Back $3 Catalina
Buy 5+, Get Back $4 Catalina

This means that if you buy (5) of these Oscar Mayer 2oz lunchmeats you’ll pay $4.95 and get back a $4 Catalina… making them only $0.19 Each!  And guess what?  It’s ROLLING!  You can buy (5) more and pay with your $4 Catalina and still get another $4 Catalina back!  WOOHOO!  This is why I split my purchase into (3) transactions.  I purchased (5) lunchmeats and (2) Starbucks Refreshers in my first (2) transactions and then used those $4 Catalinas to pay for my next transactions.

If you’re just going in to purchase the lunchmeat, your transaction would look like this:

BUY (5) Oscar Mayer Lunchmeat 2oz – $0.95 Each
Pay $4.95, Get Back $4 Catalina
=$0.19 Each wyb 5 – NO COUPONS REQUIRED!

My boys were asking for PIZZA for dinner tonight.  I had a voucher from a daily deal site so I needed to PICK UP the pizza… so of course I’m going to take advantage of them and hit a store while I’m out!  So I ran in to Vons tonight for a few items.  I spent a total of $25.88 and saved $59.96 or 70%!

Here’s what I purchased today:

8.37 lbs Bananas – $3.27 (Just4U price $0.39/lb)
(4) lbs Strawberries – $0.97 Each
(3) Diet Coke – $2.27 Each +CRV (Just4U price)
(2) Starbucks Refreshers – $1.50 Each
(8) Powerade – $0.69 Each
Silk Almond Milk – $2.79
Silk Soy Milk – $3.29
(2) Eggo Waffles – $1.99 Each (Just4U/in-ad Q)
(1) Lucky Charms – $0.94 (Damaged box 50% OFF)
(1) 12ct Pop Tarts – $1.34 (Damaged box 50% OFF)
1 Dozen Eggs – FREE (Just4U Offer)
Sun Rype Fruit Bar – FREE (Just4U Offer)

I didn’t really use that many coupons!

USED: (4) $1/2 Powerade
AND $0.55/1 Silk (Doubled)
AND $0.75/1 Silk (Didn’t double)
AND $0.75/2 Eggo (Doubled)
AND (2) FREE Starbucks Refreshers (1 deducted $2.39???)

Paid $25.88!

I had planned to pick up some Lucky Charms, but I’m WAY behind on my coupon clipping and didn’t have a coupon with me.  These are on sale for $1.88 this week, but I won’t pay that for kid cereal.  I was excited to see this box on the clearance cart marked 50% Off!  The sticker showed it as 50% OFF of $3.89.  If you aren’t already aware… these bright orange 50% OFF stickers always list the regular price.  However, they will actually ring up at what they’re currently priced on the shelf.  So… I got my Lucky Charms for $0.94 today – with NO COUPONS!  And for the record… the only thing wrong with this box was that the top had popped open.  The interior bag was perfectly in tact.  I have no idea why the Pop Tarts were on this cart… the box was a little mis-shaped?  SOLD!

Be sure to check out all of the Vons Deals this week!

My Target Trip – $3.09 Money Maker!

by ocdealmama on May 7, 2012

Ok, so I just couldn’t resist… I had to go out and see if I could cash in on the FREE Nivea deal at Target today.  I am happy to report that it worked great for me!  There were no signs next to the Nivea tins at my store, but I was willing to take a chance and try one transaction to see if it worked.  Sure enough it did!  I went back for more once I confirmed it.  There was plenty left at my store tonight.  I actually left wanting more (adrenaline rush), but I refrained.  I actually have a girlfriend that LOVES Nivea so I’ll be sharing this with her.

***Here’s what I stole purchased today***
(5) Nivea Extended Moisture Lotions – $4.22 Each
(10) Nivea Creme Tins – $1.02 Each (these may be lower for you… everything’s $$ in the OC!)
(3) Method Laundry Detergent – $2.54 Each (clearance)
(10) Eveready Batteries – $1.00 Each
(1) Merona T-shirt – $6.00
(1) Foodsaver Container Set – $9.99
Subtotal = $64.91
USED: (5) $2/1 Nivea Hand Lotion
AND: (8) $1.25/1 Energizer Batteries
AND: (3) $2/1 Method Detergent (NLA)
AND: $3/1 Merona Target Q
AND: $10/1 Any Foodsaver Item mfg (NLA)
AND: $1/1 Nivea Target Q (From the Beauty Bag)
AND: $3/$20 Beauty, Skin, Hair Target Q
Paid: $21.91, Got Back $25 Target Gift Cards
=FREE + $3.09 Money Maker!

I did this in 2 separate transactions so I could test out the Nivea deal, before I bought multiple sets.  You CAN do multiple gift card deals in a single transaction.  If you plan to do this, MAKE SURE that you have the cashier scan your Nivea items in the right order (Lotion, Tin, Tin, Lotion, Tin, Tin).  Otherwise the register will attach the gift card based on the order of the items scanned, which may or may not work out the way you want it to.  I did (4) sets in one transaction with no issues.  I had the $3/$20 Target coupon that I wanted to use (to make another $3!) so that’s why I did it.  Otherwise I may have chosen to break them up and use my $5 gift card to pay for my next transaction.

If you aren’t already aware, Eveready is an Energizer brand battery.  If you don’t believe me, just flip the package over… it says Energizer on the back!  If you find the Eveready batteries in the dollar spot, you can pick these up for FREE with the coupon that was in this past Sunday’s paper (these were regional).  Since we received $1.25/1 coupons here in the OC, I purchased 10 packs and used 8 coupons… all 10 packs were FREE!  This is one of my favorite deals, and I look for batteries in the dollar spot every time I go!  (If you have children with a video game addiction, you’ll understand.)

I found a floating $10/1 Any Foodsaver Item manufacturer coupon in my binder, so I picked up these storage containers… you guessed it… FREE!  And I ended up getting a (cute) FREE t-shirt with my overage.  I also used my Target Red (Debit) Card for another 5% Off.  OH HAPPY DAY!

I finally made my way down to Albertsons today to take advantage of the HOT All/Snuggle deal.  I found my favorite deal to pair with this and thought I would share in case you wanted to take advantage of it too!  I paid $1.96 for everything in this picture and saved $29.18, per my receipt!

***DEAL SCENARIO***
BUY (1) All Laundry Detergent – $3.99
AND (1) Snuggle Fabric Softener – $3.99
AND (1) Barilla Whole Grain Pasta – $0.99
Subtotal: $8.97
USE: In-ad Manufacturer’s Coupon – FREE Snuggle wyb All (Deducts $3.99)
AND: $1/1 Barilla Whole Grain Pasta printable
AND: $/1 all Laundry Detergent 24 Loads+ (NLA?)
OR: $1/1 All Mighty Pacs or Liquid Laundry Detergent, exp. 6/2/12 (RP 04/01/12)
AND: (2) Albertsons Doublers
=$0.98!!!

Using the Doubler with the Barilla coupon basically give you an extra dollar to play with!  I did this transaction twice today and will probably go back for more before the deal ends on Tuesday!  If you  need the BOGO coupon from the store ad, you can find them at the front of the store… just take your scissors!

Tonight was a soccer practice night and I had high hopes to make it to a few stores while I waited.  Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to go as planned?  I have lots of those, and today was no exception!  I needed to run an errand and drop some things off at our restaurant before I could do any shopping, so I was already destined for failure on my timeline.  Plus, I let all the boys get out of the car so they could say hello to their daddy.  They needed some dinner anyway, so I figured we might as well eat.  Surprisingly, they were actually pretty good at the table.  On the way out the door… not so much.

I had my 9-year-old walk the littles up to the lobby, while I found my husband to tell him we were were leaving.  About 30 seconds later I made my way to the lobby where I found NOT ONE of my children.  I did a quick scan out the front door and found 3 of them swarming the front sidewalk like bees.  Child #4 (a little) was standing out in the middle of the (very busy) parking lot on his way to our car (!).  After my panic attack, I secured him in the car and went back for the others.  As luck would have it, I turned around just in time to see another one of my littles take a PLUNGE into the FOUNTAIN.  SERIOUSLY!?!  Not only did I NOT get my shopping done, I was 30 minutes late picking up boy #5 from soccer practice.  Everyone should do this for just ONE DAY… never boring, that’s for sure!

I at least needed to pick up some soy milk and something for breakfast tomorrow, so I quickly stopped in Ralphs on my way home.  I left all of the boys in the car (1 of them now naked and wet) with my 12-year-old while I ran in ALONE… my 5 minutes of BLISS.

I actually messed up by only purchasing (4) of the Powerades.  These are on sale this week for ONLY $0.59, but you must buy 10 to get the sale price.  I ended up paying $1 each, but as frazzled as I was at this point, it could have been much worse!  Even with my mistake, I Spent a total of $17.43 and Saved $32.99.

***Here’s what I bought***
(3) Silk Soy Milk – $2.88 Each
(1) Silk Almond Milk – $3.19
(2) Eggo Waffles – $1.99 Each
(2) Eggo Mini Pancakes – $1.99 Each
(4) Imperial Margarine – $0.50 Each
(4) Powerade – $1.00 +CRV Each (oops!)
(2) Capri Sun – $0.99 Each
Subtotal: $28.17
USED (4) $1.50/1 Silk Product
AND (2) $1/1 Kellogg’s Eggo Waffles
AND (1) $0.75/2 Kellogg’s Eggo Frozen Product, exp. 5/6/12 (RP 03/11/12)
LESS: $1.99 – FREE Eggo Waffles (Yesterday’s B2G1 FREE Cart Buster eCoupon!)
=$17.43

I was surprised that the Eggo eCoupon came off since I used a coupon on all (4) boxes… not to mention I only purchased (2) waffles.  It must be working on the pancakes too?  It deducted automatically… with no beeps!  I’m certainly not complaining.

Are you shopping at Ralphs this week?  What’s on YOUR list?

I couldn’t resist running down to Target to check out the Easter clearance and to see if I could get my hands on one of the FREE FoodSavers!  I found one, but when I got home I realized it had been opened and was missing everything but the FoodSaver itself.  I’ll be exchanging that… at least I found one!!!

My Rite Aid Trip – Spent $2, Saved $27.92!

by ocdealmama on April 14, 2012

It’s been a CRAZY morning at my house!  The MUD line this morning said soccer games were rained out, then the website was updated at the last minute saying the fields were playable, and games were ON.  I didn’t even have time to get my littles dressed!  Needless to say I wasn’t getting them out of the car in their PJs to play in the MUD.  Instead, I dropped my son off at the field to play (with his 2 other team mates that showed up) and ran down the street to Rite Aid to see if there was any Softsoap left.  Lucky ME!

I purchased the last bar soap, which is really what I wanted, but I plan to hold on to my receipt and see if I can swap a few of these body washes when they get their shipment in.  Either way, this Pomegranate & Mango scent is amazing!  The Rite Aid ad changes on FRIDAY for those of us in SoCal (no idea why… think they just like to confuse us) and on Sunday for everyone else.  The $1/1 Softsoap coupons expire TODAY, so I was able to take advantage of this one. I spent $2.00 and saved $27.92 today on (7) Body Washes and (1) 4-Pack Bar Soap!

***DEAL SCENARIO***
Buy (1) Softsoap Bar Soap – $2.50 Each
AND (7) Softsoap Body Wash – $2.50 Each
USE (1) $1/1 Softsoap Bar Soap, exp. 4/14/12 (SS 03/25/12)
AND (7) $1/1 Softsoap Body Wash, exp. 4/14/12 (SS 03/25/12)
Pay $12.00, Get Back $10 +UP Reward
=$0.25 Each!

For those of you that are outside of SoCal and are interested in doing this deal, be on the lookout for a Colgate-Palmolive insert in your (4/15) Sunday paper Inside you’ll find a $0.75/1 Softsoap Bar Soap or Body wash coupon, so you can still get these for $0.50 Each.  The +UP Reward offer also includes Colgate toothpaste and toothbrushes (coupons for these also included in the special insert) if you aren’t able to find (8) Softsoaps at your store.

Be sure to check out the rest of the Rite Aid Matchups before you head out!

I rant to Target tonight while my oldest son was at soccer practice. My 9-year old sorted through and filed a gazillion receipts for me this week and we promised him a new XBox game.  Of course they didn’t have the one he wanted!  It wasn’t a wasted trip though… I ended up on the Easter aisle, which was marked 50% OFF.  There was also a section marked 70% OFF but it was largely Easter grass and plastic eggs, neither of which I wanted to bring home with me today!

I found these super cute Wilton Bunny cake pans on the 50% OFF shelf.  These were originally $12.99 and I expected them to be $6.50 each.  However, when I scanned them they were actually marked down to $3.89 – 70% OFF!  The marshmallows were marked down to $0.35 and I still had some $0.40/2 coupons.  Gotta love getting bags of marshmallows for $0.15!  I spent $9.88 and saved $32.76 tonight, and brought home (2) very nice cake pans and (14) bags of marshmallows.

I have to add that my checkout experience tonight was not pleasant.  SHAME ON ME for trying to buy TWO Method soaps and use TWO Target coupons.  I’m such a rule breaker!!!  I have seriously never had a problem using coupons at my Target.  However, tonight as soon as I put my stack of coupons onto the counter the cashier immediately stopped scanning and proceeded to lay out every single one of my coupons onto the belt.  Not only did he clog up his line, he also called a manager over… just because I had coupons.  The cashier could not have been more slow, and he was examining EVERY SINGLE ONE of my coupons before he even tried to scan it.  Seriously, if you read one marshmallow coupon and you have 6 others just like it behind it, you wouldn’t think you would need to RE-READ the SAME COUPON 6 more times!!!  To say I was irritated is an understatement, but I didn’t say anything.  (It’s frustrating enough to check out with 4-5 kids all trying to talk to you, all while making sure they aren’t helping themselves to candy that is positioned right at their level at the registers, AND watch the cashier at the same time.)  Unfortunately Target has changed the wording on their coupons from Limit 1 per TRANSACTION to Limit 1 per GUEST.  I didn’t want to get technical, but I did have 4 other ‘guests’ with me.  I just had him remove one of the soaps from my purchase and I took back my coupons.  I won’t be going back through this guy’s line again!

I spent the afternoon at the beach today with my 5 boys and some amazing friends that were in town from Vegas.  It was a BEAUTIFUL day in SoCal today, and everyone had a BLAST playing.  So much fun, that the little guys passed out in the car about 2 minutes out of the parking lot!  I thought I would take advantage of the situation and run into Albertsons while they enjoyed a cat nap.  I ended up with 10 newspapers this past Sunday, so that means I have 30 Doublers to use before the end of the day TOMORROW!  (If you haven’t looked at these closely, you’ll want to make sure you use those FIRST because they expire on 4/3, whereas the ones we received in our mailbox are good until 4/10.)  I usually only have the (2) from my mailbox, so this is AWESOME for me!

I was able to pick up everything in the picture for ONLY $20.99 and per my receipt, I saved $85.50!  Our new Doublers are Limit 3 per transaction so I broke this up into (6) separate transactions.  (I did 3, then put the items in my car and went back in for my 2nd load.)

Here’s what I purchased:
(4) Packages Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Breasts 7lbs+ ($46.05) – BOGO FREE (With Book of Savings Q)
(2) Farmer John Hot Dogs – $4.29 BOGO FREE
(18) Anthony’s Pasta – $1.00 Each
(4) Silk Milk – $3.00 Each
USED: (9) $1/2 Anthony’s Pasta (found in my email!)
AND: (2) $0.75/1 Silk Quart, Half Gallon, or Single Serve 4-pack printable
AND: (1) $0.75/2 Silk Product printable
AND: (4) $1/1 Foster Farms Fresh Chicken Breast Item (SS 3/4/12)
AND: (2) $1/1 Farmer John Hot Dogs, exp. 4/4/12 (SS 03/04/12 R)
AND: (2) $1 Catalinas from buying the Silk Milk
AND: (18) Doublers!
=$20.99

All of the pasta was completely FREE, and my Hot Dogs were a total of $0.29 for both of them.  Since I only had (2) $0.75/1 coupons for the Silk, that was $5.50 of my bill.  The bulk of my cost was for the chicken, and it ended being $15.20.

Let me know what’s on YOUR Albertsons list!  I’ll be heading back tomorrow!
